Selena Marie Gomez (/s@'li:n@ Gomez/s@-LEE-n@ GOHmez; born July 22, 1992) is an American actress, performer and producer. Gomez started her acting career in 2002 when she appeared on the TV show for children called Barney & Friends. She became famous for her role as Alex Russo, a teenage actor on the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-12). Gomez was also featured in several films that included Another Cinderella Story (2008) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2010). She also appeared in Ramona and Beezus (2010) as well as Spring Breakers (2012). She also voice actor on Mavis in Hotel Transylvania (2012-2022). Gomez was the executive producer of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Undocumented (2018). Undocumented (2018) through July Moon Productions. Gomez also executive produces and is a star in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu comedy show Only Murders in the Building (21-21). Gomez was recognized for her work and earned nominations for an Golden Globe Award. She also received a Primetime Emmy Award for producer. Gomez who was previously part of Selena Gomez & the Scene released three albums. They all made it to the top ten on the US Billboard 200. The albums were all certified gold and were awarded the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA). Her debut solo album, Stars Dance (2013), topped the U.S. Billboard 200, while its first single, "Come & Get It" was a top ten spot in the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez's second album Revival (2015) was released at number 1 in the US. It was certified platinum by RIAA and was followed by three top-ten tracks in the US: "Good for You""Same old Love" and "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020) is her third studio album was her third straight top-ten album in the US. The album's first single, "Lose You To Love Me" was her first top-ten hit song in both the US and Canada. She also released Revelacion in Spanish which brought her a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. She has been awarded numerous awards and was named Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2017 as well as breaking 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named Her one of the 100 most powerful people in the World in 2020. Her social media following is large and she is the most popular actress and performer on Instagram.
