Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN as well as HLN. She's a frequent guest in CNN's New Day Weekend and HLN's Weekend Express, as well CNN International. She worked as a local station meteorologist in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga before she joined CNN. She's covered everything from hurricanes, blizzards, flooding events, and wildfires. In fact, she received the Emmy nod for her reporting of Dorian, the hurricane that struck the Bahamas in 2019. Dorian which struck the Bahamas in the year 2019. Her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, during which more than 350 tornadoes occurred in the Southeastern United States over a time period of four days, 200 tornadoes happening on April 27, was also nominated to win an Emmy. Chinchar has reported on changes in the climate, as well as earthquakes and volcanoes due to her experience in environmental science. Chinchar graduated with a Master of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
