Kari Samantha Wuhrer (born on April 28, 1967) is an American actress and singer. She began her professional career as a teenager. She is known for her roles as Maggie Beckett in the television series Sliders and also as the Sheriff Samantha Parker in the horror comedy film Eight Legged Freaks.Wuhrer was born in Brookfield, Connecticut, the daughter of Karin (nee Noble), who is a payroll manager, and German American Andrew Wuhrer, a police officer and automobile salesman. There are three siblings. She started singing at clubs as a teenager, and would sneak out of her house in order to perform. Kari was born in a family that included four members. In her teens performing in nightclubs, she was able to make a name for herself by slipping away to perform. Kari began acting at the Wooster school when she was thirteen, and went on to study drama in NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia University Marymount Manhattan College as well as the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art under the renowned Uta Hagen. Kari began acting when she was still in the teen years. Kari got her debut big break on MTV Remote Control in 1987.
